“Our stories are our tapestry, the winding form and color of all our collective circumstances. We reveal our authentic self in the images we make and share. The physical part of photography is challenging. Disabled at age six by a stroke, my acceptance of my uniqueness has happened through photography. I make creative images so my viewer can harness essence and follow it as it leads them to emotion.”
Much of Cynthia Perdigao’s photography is now a vehicle for her own personal evolution. She shares that with other photographers in an effort to contribute to their opening their creative process. In July 2013, she spoke at the 68th Annual New England Camera Club Council Conference in Amherst, Massachusetts, which was sponsored by Nikon. Perdigao speaks to organizations on the East Coast and also speaks about her disability. She also teaches photography and her students learn how to photograph “outside of the box” and “weave their own personalities and stories into photography.”
