“I am fascinated with the relationship between the art piece and the viewer. The desired response motivates each design. I create figurative ceramic pieces to reflect feelings and thoughts. The pieces are designed to reach deep and connect with the viewer’s buried emotions. As a viewer recognizes the similar emotions within the art piece, a connection is made. That connection reduces stress creating a sense of calm. The interaction with the art pieces becomes part of the art itself.”
Eva Marie Restel is a sculptural ceramic artist. Her many permanent collections include those in cancer centers found in Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Louisiana as well as in churches, schools, and homes. She was commissioned to design the first series of the Rose Sisters for Gundersen Lutheran’s Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care. She has exhibited her work at Pump House Regional Arts Center, where she has presented talks about the inspiration behind her art pieces.
