“Nature and rural environments inspire me. My life-long love of forests, lakes, rivers and rural landscapes provide ample material to create art. For me, photography is a satisfying blend of creativity, intellectual challenge, and craftsmanship. My camera is my paintbrush. It is the tool that paints the scene. My computer contains my paints – I use them to set the tone, the color, and the contrast of my art. With these tools I create memories of moments of serene beauty and preserve them with archival materials.”
John Weller’s career in photography began quite by accident when he purchased a digital camera for his wife’s birthday in 2004. Largely self-taught, he has supplemented his education attending workshops by Stephen Johnson and John Paul Caponigro.
Weller shows his award-winning photography at juried art shows throughout the mid-west. He won the Exhibitions Without Walls Award in Manhattan Arts International’s “The Healing Power of ART 2017” exhibition and an Honorable Mention Award from Manhattan Arts International in its “New Beginnings”2015 exhibition.. He also won First Place – Award of Excellence in the Levis Commons Fine Art Fair, and Honorable Mentions in the Wyoming Art Show and the Rising Sun Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts.
His work is installed at the Artist Lounge, a gallery where he serves as the board president. John’s art can be found in private and corporate collections.
