“My works are gateways to light. Through my non-figurative creations I relive experiences encountered with light and images resurfacing from when my father was very ill and I was asking myself questions about the meaning of life. Rather than figurative representation I am more concerned about how to recreate ‘A moment in space and time’ which is why I call my paintings ‘reflections’. They are spaces where the viewer’s soul may become relaxed, submit to bright, colorful moments, times when they share my feelings for the joy of being alive.”
Known as a “Luminist” artist, Mary Chaplin expresses both her love of Nature with her use of light and energy in an impressionistic abstract manner. Her figurative and non-figurative art works are regularly shown in galleries in France and around the world. She was invited by the Council to have an exhibition in the Domino Center in Meru, Picardy, and has shown in the Art Gallery Yvert et Tellier in Amiens, among other locations.
Chaplin received an Artist Showcase Gallery Award, one of the top awards given in the Manhattan Arts International “New Beginnings” exhibition. She was also selected as a Featured Artist on the Artsy Shark website. Easily identified through her sensitive use of color, light and form, Mary Chaplin’s paintings appeal to collectors throughout the world.
