Connie grew up with a love of nature, hiking in Michigan’s northern woods and camping with her family. Never without a pencil or paintbrush, she drew and painted from her experiences, learning at an early age the delight in observing details. Her passion for creating led her to select all available art classes during her school years.
She then majored in fine art at Spring Arbor University where she received her first award as a freshman in the student exhibit. She pursued additional education at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts and studied under renowned artists Lorenzo Chavez and Katriel Srebnik.

Connie Mae Moeller’s Artist’s Statement: “I create oil paintings that celebrate nature and transport viewers into the scene. My style unites the delight I find in details, such as effects of light and color, with the spirit I sense in a place. I enjoy painting en plein air as well as in my studio using my photos for reference. I begin with a toned ground upon which I create an underpainting of basic forms and shades, then build with detail, color, and transparent glazing. I am often told that viewing my paintings brings a peaceful feeling. This gives me the greatest sense of accomplishment, because my motivation is the peace I find in nature and my desire to share that with others.”
Fascinating Facts About Connie Mae Moeller: “I have loved gardening almost as long as I have loved painting and took Extension Master Gardener courses through both Michigan State and West Virginia Universities. The designation does not mean I am all-knowledgeable, just that I love it enough to learn more and volunteer my time in public gardens.”
