Artist Diane Turner Creates Inspirational Paintings of Figures in the Natural World

By Renee Phillips 1 Comment

Diane Turner is an outstanding American figurative realist painter best known for masterful paintings of multiple figures in natural settings. These mesmerizing works of art convey her sensitivity to the bond between humans and the environment. She possesses expertise in her chosen medium and a remarkable sense of composition and attention to detail.

The artist devotes immeasurable time and effort to creating each painting and focused series. Many of her paintings evoke the feelings one has when communing with the natural world and transport the viewer to a state of spiritual awareness.

Diane was selected to have her art included in “The Healing Power of ART In Honor of Nature” exhibition based on the reasons stated above, her artistic proficiency and unique creative vision. As director and curator of The Healing Power of ART & ARTISTS, an initiative of Manhattan Arts International, I am honored to present this featured article about Diane Turner. This award has been given to only three artists in the exhibition.

When she submitted her art she supplied this statement: “The concept for my ‘Triplets’ paintings is based on that feeling I get when I ride my horse, take a walk up to the highest spot on our farm and am in awe of the view, or just enjoy a quite moment in a favorite place of solace. My ‘Triplets’ series is about the natural world’s power to help us each find ‘that feeling’”.

Diane shares her purposeful creative process with us and states, “My painting method starts with taking many photos of my subject, then sorting through them and choosing which ones to use in the composition. After completing a drawing, I transfer it to the canvas using graphite. Then comes the first layer of paint which is straight out of the tube in a very thin layer, working dark to light.”

Her many exhibitions include the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society’s Spring 2021 International On-line Exhibition, and shows presented at The State Museum of PA and Reading Public Museum, among others. She was also selected as a Finalist in the 14th International Art Renewal Center Salon.
