The Healing Power of ART In Honor of Nature Exhibition 2021

Enjoy Viewing!

“The Healing Power of ART In Honor of Nature”, May 20 – July 20, 2021, presented diverse and inspirational art by 75 artists from around the world.  The purpose of this exhibition was two fold: to promote extraordinary nature-inspired artists; and to raise awareness about the importance of  honoring, preserving and protecting our natural environment.  Through art, we can spread the word that nature and biodiversity need our attention.

As the curator, I invited all professional artists around the world to submit art and a statement that relates to the theme “The Healing Power of ART In Honor of Nature”. The selection process was very challenging. Artists’ entries were judged according to how strong their art and artist’s statement related to the theme and its impact upon the viewer; their creative originality and their level of technical skills in their chosen medium. I also visited the artists’ websites to learn more about them and their art before making the final selections. The final selections rated highest in having the strongest impact upon the first impression and several subsequent viewings.

First painting in Triplets Series. Oil on Canvas, 36" x 42 1/8" by Diane Turner

“Triplets”, the first painting in the “Triplets” Series. Oil on canvas, 36″ x 34″.

The concept for my “Triplets” paintings is based on that feeling I get when I ride my horse, take a walk up to the highest spot on our farm and am in awe of the view, or just enjoy a quite moment in a favorite place of solace. My “Triplets” series is about the natural world’s power to help us each find “that feeling.” dianeturnerart.com

I am most inspired by light falling on any subject, particularly in early morning or the long shadows of late afternoon. I use archival painting materials in whichever medium I working in, to support longevity of the finished piece. Painting helps us learn to see – finding a way to share our unique vision as artists with the wider world. The subjects I paint are often commonplace; I chose these subjects based on my personal response to share a moment or a pose – to remind us in our busy lives that there is simple beauty to be found all around us when we take the time to pause and really see. juliegreig.co.nz

My art is the result of sporadic surges of energy that percolate into my consciousness. I attempt to explore the dynamics of tension and elasticity, the interplay of light and darkness, the interconnected energy of the perpetual motion of the natural world. peternvangiesen.com

The bond between humans and horses is nature’s gift. Our flowing blood, a timeless connection entwining our hearts. A promise made between beast and man: Take me and my descendants across the world, conquering new lands as we go. In return, I shall give you safety, food and comfort. Never forget the sacrifice of the horse, what it has given us and the promise we made with it ages ago. brensculpture.com

We all need a place to go to get inspired and renewed. Nature offers that sense of peace, positive energy, healing and strength. Spending time in nature calms my concerns and enhances my well being. My hope, as an artist, is to take the viewer to that happy place through my artwork on nature. jorgensenart.com

Frankie Hsu

abstract painting by Frankie HsuAction & Echo, mixed media on canvas, 18″ x 24″

My inspiration emerges from complex natural elements such as microscopic spheres and the celestial cosmos. Highlighting the tension between the physical and the otherworldly, my work embraces the ethereal elements found in flora, fauna, wind, and water. My paintings allude to cloud formations and evanescent waves as they capture ephemeral moments. A metaphorical reference to hope and positive possibilities as they allow me to remove myself from the struggles of daily life and examine the broader landscape. illyra.com

I have long known and understood that in nature is the preservation of the world. Everything depends on the natural world for survival, but humans have threatened and destroyed parts of it. As an artist, I have a responsibility to highlight the importance of maintaining nature’s balance. I express the awe-inspiring beauty I see in nature through my photography, hoping to heal mind and body and awaken man’s awareness of the need to preserve the natural world and our survival. sbvaz.com

I am blessed to live on a wild forested mountainside in British Columbia, Canada, where I walk daily and am awed by the beauty. Gratitude overflows, and I try to capture it in paint so others might experience nature connection too. Much of humankind has forgotten we are ourselves Nature. We mistakenly hold ourselves separate, and consequently experience feelings of loss & lostness. Nature suffers badly too, from our disrespect. Let us fall back in love with her, and begin the healing. BarbaraBrownArt.com

Elliot Appel

Love Mother Earth, Acrylic, 12"x16" by Elliot AppelLove Mother Earth, acrylic, 12″ x 16″

All too often, people may find themselves rushing from place to place without noticing the nature, beauty, history, diversity and culture that surrounds them. They may not have an opportunity to appreciate the thought-provoking graffiti-messages, the antiquated storefront, the interesting window reflection, that contribute to making urban living worthwhile and enriching. As an artist, I want the viewer to share my interest in everyday objects that are unique to ‘the city’. elliotappelpaints.com

Thank you so much for choosing one of my pieces (Primeval) to exhibit in The Healing Power of Art in Honor of Nature exhibition! I’m very honored to be a part of this effort to highlight nature’s gifts to humanity. I’m also humbled because of the stunning art and amazing artists represented in this show. I looked over the pieces several times – the work is inspired and your expert curation of it all really comes through.

All the best as you continue to support art and artists in these challenging times. Art and the vision of the soul have never been more important.

Congratulations Renee on curating another spectacular exhibition. As a curator myself, I know how difficult it is and I can see how much effort you put into selecting the images and arranging them. The sequence of images are thoughtfully and beautifully organized and you have managed to tell multiple stories as we travel through the exhibition. The icing on the proverbial cake is that you provide the artists’ statements. You managed to also choose those artists who know why and how they create the art they do and submit well-written text. These statements complement the artwork and provide an enriched and powerful experience for the visitor. I will return many times and share the link.
