David begins each day painting on multiple canvases where he will add media textures and paint with various tools, as he discovers relationships between the colors and the unexpected.

He enjoys using beautiful complementary colors with brushstrokes of thick textured paint. His expressive paintings exude a sense of drama, euphoria and enlightenment. He enlivens our awareness about the diverse elements in nature.

Confronting his own personal struggles, David says, “I tap into a limitless source of creativity from the original Creator of the Universe. It is in those moments of co-creating that freedom is found and the work of art sometimes seems to create itself.”

One of David’s uplifting paintings titled “Hope Within” was selected for the Manhattan Arts International “Love, Peace, Unity & Hope” 2025 Invitational Online Exhibition because of its powerful spiritual message and positive impact on viewers.

David’s art has been curated into “The Healing Power of Color” juried exhibitions presented on this website. His proficient use of color, particularly contrasting warm and cool tones, bring a dynamic energy to his work.

In “The Healing Power of Color” 2026 exhibition David wrote “I paint the colors that I feel, but not necessarily what I see… While what I see is influencing what I paint, I’m not trying to copy my surroundings realistically from a photograph. I’m looking to create a painting based on the colors and composition I feel that I see from an internal perspective.”

David’s paintings are featured in these articles and exhibitions presented on this website: “Art With the Magical Color Blue by Contemporary and Historical Artists”, “Honor, Remembrance, Gratitude and Hope for Peace Expressed in Art” and “Artists Celebrate the Color Orange”.

David G. Rickman artist i his studioDavid G. Rickman’s Artist Statement: “I’m seeking to create something that will flood our heart, mind, and soul with a sense of hope and excitement! My art helps me to work thru difficulties and promote a sense of soul healing for myself as well. My process of co-creating with the Creator is a spiritual and therapeutic experience that promotes healing internally.”

“One of the main areas that I’m passionate about are ‘Healing Arts’ projects that integrate the arts with healthcare and the well-being of people. It’s such a great way to communicate and help others in so many ways.”

Fascinating Facts About David: “I grew up in a family of artists. I followed in the footsteps of my grandfather, who was a published cartoonist in the 1950’s. After college I drew editorial cartoons for newspapers and cartoons for national magazines. I started painting in college but wanted to try my luck with cartoons.”
