Masterful Watercolor Paintings of Florals

About Tanis Bula: Tanis Bula is an internationally renowned watercolorist.  Her awe-inspiring masterful paintings of nature are endowed with a healing symphony of hues, light and shadow.

She creates life-affirming  floral bouquets, serene landscapes and other subjects that delight and enchant us; however, she is best known for her vibrant florals.

Tanis’s paintings are included in many corporate as well as individual collections. She has been featured in Watercolor, a national magazine.

She has won numerous awards. Her painting “Roses” received the First Place Award in watercolor at the Peakview Art Show.

Tanis has exhibited in Europe and Japan as well as the U.S. She earned the distinction of being one of three American watercolorists selected for individual shows in Japan.

Her art was also selected for the Colorado Watercolor State Show, May 11 – June 29, 2024.

One of her gorgeous paintings was selected for “The Healing Power of Color” 2025 Invitational Exhibition and also for “The Healing Power of Color” 2024 Invitational Exhibition. Her artwork was selected for her superior proficiency in the use of color in the watercolor medium and for how her art exudes the restorative and magnificent qualities of nature.

Tanis wrote, “The use of color in my paintings I hope will add joy and excitement.”

Her painting of Hydrangeas is featured in “Art With The Magical Color Blue”. Her painting of Peonies is being shown in “The Healing Glow of Pink in Art by Artist Members, Famous Artists, and More”.

In 2023 Tanis was selected for “The Healing Power of Color”, “The Healing Power of Elements: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire” and “The Healing Power of ART Inspired by NATURE” juried exhibitions.

Her art was also juried into “The Healing Power of Color” 2022 exhibition and “The Healing Power of ART: Resilience” juried exhibition.

One of Tanis’s glorious landscape paintings that captures the Colorado Aspen trees is featured in “Autumn” Art by Artist Members and Artists from Art History” on this website. In 2024 one of Tanis’s landscape paintings was selected for “The Healing Power of Art Inspired by Nature” Invitational Exhibition.

Tanis Bula in her studioTanis is a native of Iowa and currently lives in Colorado. She studied at Iowa State University and the Kansas City Art Institute and has participated in workshops both nationally and internationally. She is a signature member of both the Rocky Mountain National Watercolor Society and the Colorado Watercolor Society.

She has painted in France, Italy, Portugal, Japan, the Caribbean and Mexico.

Tanis Bula’s Artist’s Statement: “In nature the light and shadows are always forming complex shapes, textures, patterns and colors. As an artist, I capture these elements in my paintings. With paint and brush, I am also adding strong graphic contrasts and careful detail to the very special moment in time. I express my appreciation for nature and its many colors.”

Interesting Fact About Tanis Bula: I love to travel. In 2025, we went to Hawaii for the first time and plan several trips to the mountains of Colorado this summer.
