The “Still Life” in Contemporary Realism

About Debora Levy:  Debora excels in using a variety of materials — from gold leaf, acrylic, to oils, cold wax, inks, and dry media. Most recently Debora has been creating gorgeous realistic oil paintings that reflect her masterful painting skills and illuminate everyday objects. She conveys a remarkable sense of balance and harmony and her art reflects her superb sense of composition, design, and contrast of light and shadow.

Debora Levy was born and raised in Mexico City and currently lives in California. She received a BA in Art History with honors at the Instituto de Cultura Superior A.C. She has also taught art at Montessori School in Mexico City.

Since 1987 Debora has been exhibiting throughout Mexico and the U.S., most notably in juried exhibitions at Lewis Orbital Display, San Diego, California, and Gallery of the Modern Art in Miami, Florida.

Among her many accolades and honors Debora’s art  was featured on the cover of  Biological Psychiatry magazine and SDVoyager Magazine interviewed her for “Rising Stars: Meet Debora Levy”.

She was selected as one of the featured artists for the Mission Fed ArtWalk in October 2021 in Little Italy, San Diego, California. In 2020, she was included in a juried exhibition “Quarantine Aquamarine”, at Gallery Art on 30th, in San Diego, California.

Debora’s artwork was also selected for the Manhattan Arts International “HerStory” 2024 Invitational Exhibition, the “HerStory” 2022 curated online exhibition and “HerStory” 2020-2021 juried exhibition.

Her her art was chosen for “The Healing Power of  Color” in 2024 and “The Healing Power of ART In Honor of Nature”, in 2021 — both exhibitions on this website.

Her many awards include a First Place Award at the San Diego Country Fair. She also received an Honorable Mention Award in the “25th Athenaeum School of Arts” exhibition juried by Maria Mingalone, Executive Director, Oceanside Museum of Art. Deborah’s artwork has been published in several art publications including Circle Quarterly Art Review and Spotlight Magazine, among others.

Debora Levy’s Artist’s Statement: For the past few years, I’ve been focusing on exploring on everyday objects portrayed in contrasting light and dark settings. I celebrate nature, beauty, and color, as they infuse my work with energy and positivity. Through my art, I aim to encourage viewers to contemplate daily life and discover the beauty found in the ordinary things that surround us. All of my works of art are one-of-a-kind and original. I use only the highest quality archival materials and technology available to ensure preservation and longevity. As an art buyer you expect excellent customer service. In addition to available works for sale from my current inventory.

Interesting Facts about Debora Levy: In my kitchen, I wield ingredients like a painter with a palette, crafting inventive dishes that are my culinary masterpieces. Each creation is a symphony of flavors, a canvas of innovation. Just as with my art, I revel in the boundless creativity that cooking offers, a true artist in the kitchen.
