“Renewal: Introspections in Resilience”

About Rajul Shah: Rajul Shah creates healing art that immediately arouses a transcendent experience for the viewer. She offers us a meditative journey toward personal growth and transformation.

Rajul moved to Japan in 2012 after retiring from her first career in healthcare. She trained extensively across all media including sumi-e/Nihonga for 7 years between the Tokyo Campus of Temple’s Tyler School of Art and Professional/Studio workshops. In 2019 she moved to Singapore and now works between Singapore and the U.S.

Rajul’s recent successes include a 3-month solo exhibition at the German Centre in Singapore. Her artwork was also featured in the international art publication, ART SEEN.

Her work has been a source of inspiration for the musician, composer and pianist, Margin Alexander of Brooklyn, New York. His concert inspired by her painting “Iceland Dreams” can be found on YouTube.

Rajul’s many additional accolades include artistic awards of excellence from the Circle Foundation of the Arts and being short- and long-listed for the Visual Artists Association exhibitions.

An Art Review about Rajul’s “Renewal” series of artwork has been published in The Healing Power of ART & ARTISTS Featured Artists series. In it I wrote, “Rajul Shah is a versatile abstract color field artist renowned for her ability to reinterpret spiritual spheres of knowledge and manifest them into innovative contemporary artistic expressions.

Rajul Shah’s Artist’s Statement: “My work is a fusion between the Japanese Art of kintsugi and the spiritual teachings of the Chakras. Using the Aura of each chakra, I paint meditative abstract expressions of color. Kintsugi is the practice of mending broken pottery with lacquer mixed with precious metals. The once-flawed object becomes a work of art, each golden seam celebrating its history and resilience. Kintsugi is a metaphor for the human journey. We recover from life’s challenges to tell our unique stories. Balancing energy centers within our body (Chakras) helps mend the imbalances within us. Each chakra symbolizes an aspect of our well-being.”

Interesting Facts about Rajul Shah: Prior to becoming an artist, I worked across various diseases in healthcare marketing for 20 years. My aspirations have always involved “healing”. Having lived with Depression/Anxiety for the majority of my life, the process of “creating” has helped me cope and heal; whether it be through music, photography or painting.
