“The Healing Power of Color” Invitational Exhibition presented a spectacular array of subjects and styles by 54 artists who are members of one or more of our online galleries (Manhattan Arts International and The Healing Power of ART & ARTISTS) or from our Art Review series. The Powerful Impact of Color: Color affects your behavior, moods, and thoughts. Your reactions to colors are often deeply personal and rooted in your own experiences. A certain color has the ability to conjure up a profound memory, soothe your frazzled nerves when you feel agitated, motivate and empower you to take action when you are in a state of lethargy, and bring healing energy when you are ailing.
The Importance of Color in Art: Color may be the first quality we notice and respond to when viewing a work of art. It may also be the most important tool artists can use to express their deepest feelings, share their beliefs, convey meaningful messages, and transform viewers intellectually and emotionally. Sandra Duran Wilson
When I focus on sounds around me or songs, I see colors. The music and rhythm provide the color palette, and the words may inform the composition. I discovered this when I was in school entering data for experiments on memory. The numbers created a song in my mind, and I would then paint the song. Synesthesia is a crossing of the senses, and this describes how my mixed media work represents a beautiful blending of sounds, nature and science. sandraduranwilson

I associate colors with emotions and states of being. Yellow makes me happy. Blue and certain shades of green calm me. Purple evokes royalty, while orange screams playfulness. Shades of brown speak of the earth. Bright colors arranged freely show my joy and happiness. or evoke fun and whimsy. Who doesn’t need a little color in their lives? We all need it to perk us up when feeling catatonic. Ok maybe a bit dramatic, but that’s why colored TV was invented!
