Akshita Lad Creates Poetic and Peaceful “Soft Impression” Landscape Paintings

By Renee Phillips Leave a Comment

Akshita Lad was born in Mumbai, India and currently lives in Dubai, U.A.E. As an artist she conveys a broad and perceptive understanding about human emotions and our relationship with nature.

Her “Soft Impression” series is a resplendent collection of landscape paintings that provide a transcendent experience. At first encounter we immediately enter a calm, idyllic world where we are compelled to stop, breathe, meditate, and restore. In this visual space and state of mind we realize her art serves as a catalyst for us to peacefully bring our aspirations to fruition.

Beyond their aesthetic splendor Akshita’s life-affirming paintings impact us on a visceral level. They unleash a treasure trove of healing imprints, metaphors and symbolism that I describe as visual poetry.

As our eyes, hearts and minds peruse Akshita’s breathtaking ethereal sky, the soft oasis of trees in the distance, and the shimmering reflections in the water, we are immersed in a realm of harmony, hope and tranquility. These blissful images restore our faith in the world of positive possibilities.

A recurrent theme of  Akshita’s “Soft Impression” series is an expression of rebirth and renewal and the myriad transitions that occur throughout the seasons and in our lives. The trees above the horizon line and their reflections below provide a vision of universal balance and unity. The three paintings shown on this page are excellent examples.

Akshita’s fluent artistic vocabulary includes gestural brushstrokes and the exuberant color palette of Impressionism. We may recall Monet’s tree paintings; however, Akshita’s paintings reflect her own inimitable contemporary style. Her versatile use of artistic elements from realism and abstraction are exquisitely fused like a perfect symphony. Her biomorphic shapes exude an energy that may suggest multiple interpretations such as trees that personify shapes of human figures.

Akshita’s skillful use of acrylic with soft pastels on linen maximizes the inherent qualities of both mediums. Together they create an unerring luminosity. As a color virtuoso she achieves distinctive tonal and chromatic color ranges. Further, her sensitive approach to  light and shadow is handled with fluidity and finesse.

The enlightened “Soft Impression” paintings by Akshita Lad nurture and inspire us and bring a powerful healing modality to us as individuals and humanity.
