Diane Fleisch Hughes’s Artist’s Statement: I am a figurative artist, fascinated by the psychology of the human spirit and emotions, how one encompasses resilience and strength throughout their life. During the past three years, I dove headfirst into the study of abstract art, wanting to learn how to tell a story through line and color, without trying to be representational about a confusing, abstract time. In the end I could not help but combine the two. I believe that most people feel they are good and are trying to do the right thing, even if their viewpoint is vastly different than those around them. The angel series looks at the individuals desire to be an “angel” in a difficult, turbulent time.
Fascinating Fact About Diane Fleisch Hughes: “I love to travel! I take my Art Therapy grad students on service learning trips around the world.”

I have known of Diane’s talents for many years. She is constantly evolving, yet has always stayed true to her style. She HAS to draw humans! I think every subject she puts on paper or canvas has assisted her in her growth and understanding of other humans. I am sure it has helped her in her therapy work. Myself and our 4 children are so happy that others are seeing the healing beauty her artwork brings. We all hope it will inspire you, as much as it does us!
