He Raises Awareness About the Amazon Rainforest
Luigi Di Mauro, luigidimauro.com.br, is an Italian-Brazilian painter and graphic designer who resides in Brazil. Luigi is widely recognized internationally and has received awards for his figurative and abstract works. They are characterized by bold colors and expressive linework. In his inimitable style he conveys the connections between color and organic forms.
Luigi initiated an important project to highlight the importance of the environment. He has produced artwork with themes of nature preservation, most specifically of the Amazon Rainforest. He also informs us: “I allocate a portion of the sales from artworks related to conservation to the Cristalino Ecological Foundation. As stated on its website: “Since 1999, the Cristalino Ecological Foundation (CEF) has been conducting initiatives in environmental education, human development, the creation of economic alternatives for the local population, the minimizing of environmental impacts, sustainability and research within the Cristalino region.”
It is an honor and pleasure to induct Luigi Di Mauro in our series of Artists as “World Changers”.
Luigi’s art first came to my attention when he responded to my call for artists for the “Art Inspired by Nature” 2026 Online Exhibition. I was immediately captivated by his dynamic painting “Araucaria Tree 01, 2026”, acrylic on canvas, 34″ x 24″. This bold image directly impacts us on both visual and emotive levels. The painting raises our curiosity to learn more about what inspired it.
Luigi’s accompanying statement when he submitted his art also struck a cord. His commitment to raise awareness about climate change is admirable. He wrote “The Araucaria Tree is a Brazilian pine and almost extinct. This painting is my way of drawing attention to nature conservation. It is from a project I began to highlight the importance of the environment, producing pieces with themes of nature preservation, especially of the Amazon rainforest.”
Luigi has been a professional artist since the 1980s and has had exhibitions in galleries and museums around the world. One of his paintings is part of the permanent collection of the Haegeumgang Theme Museum in South Korea.
His art has been sold at Images Of Old Greenwich Gallery, in Connecticut, in the United States, Terra Boutique in Queensland, Australia, and Marlene Azevedo Decoração in Portugal, among other art venues, including online galleries.
It is vitally important that we follow Luigi and his art and activities for raising awareness. It is a fact that the rainforests are at severe risk because human activities destroy millions of acres of vital woodland and unique wildlife habitats each year. The majority of the Rainforest — 60% — is in Brazil.
