October is an opportunity to celebrate National Arts & Humanities Month (NAHM), a coast-to-coast collective recognition of the importance of culture in America.

This event comes when we need it most. Let’s shift our awareness to the healing and powerful gifts that the Arts provide.

An Invitation to Show Your Art

Americans For The Arts is leading an online celebration of the arts all month long. The organization is inviting artists to join its social media challenge and share their arts experience on a different theme every day using #ShowYourArt. The group will repost some of its favorites throughout the month on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Americans For The Artists statement in October, 2024: This year’s theme, “The Arts Within You,” aims to inspire active participation in fostering positive change and promote a vibrant, inclusive society through the arts.

The arts can help you cope with our ever-changing world in several ways:

Creative expression through art allows you to process emotions and adapt to life’s changes,
Art activities reduce stress and anxiety, promoting mental well-being,
Engaging with the arts fosters emotional connection and offers inspiration and comfort,
Experiencing diverse art forms broadens perspectives and nurtures empathy for different viewpoints,
Participating in art builds resilience, encouraging adaptability and hope during difficult times.
